Private client - Rear Extension & Internal Reconfiguration, Large Corbett Home, Eltham, Greenwich, London SE9
Project Description: Rear Extension & Internal Reconfiguration, Large Corbett Home, Eltham, London
Location: Eltham, London
Project Overview:
This project involved transforming an outdated rear conservatory of a large Corbett home in Eltham, which no longer met the needs of modern living. The existing layout was described as awkward by the homeowners, who sought a design that better suited contemporary life and strengthened the connection to their garden. The proposed works replaced the conservatory with a spacious, open-plan extension that introduces a fluid internal configuration designed for modern living.
Scope of Work:
- Replacement of the Existing Conservatory: Removed the outdated structure and created a new, expansive open-plan space.
- Contemporary Extension: Developed a modern extension featuring large glazed folding doors that open onto the garden and expansive glass roof lights to flood the area with natural light.
- Internal Reconfiguration: Redesigned the internal layout to enhance flow and usability, optimizing the space for contemporary living.
- Kitchen & Breakfast Bar Orientation: Reoriented the kitchen area so that the breakfast bar and main cooking space overlook the garden, fulfilling the clients’ desire for a stronger connection to their outdoor environment, reflecting their passion for gardening.
Outcome:
The project has successfully revitalized the rear of the home by replacing an impractical conservatory with a light-filled, contemporary extension. The new space not only improves the overall functionality and flow of the interior but also creates a seamless integration with the garden, ensuring that the homeowners feel more connected to their outdoor sanctuary.
